Uses for a High Temperature Butterfly Valve

High temperature butterfly valves are a type of valve which can be used for isolating or regulating flow.  The closing mechanism is the disc, which sits in the center of the valve body.  The disc is connected to a handle or actuator via the shaft, which passes from the disc through the top of the valve body.  Unlike a ball valve, the disc of the high temperature butterfly valve is always present in the flow, which will induce a pressure drop.

High temperature butterfly valves operate in a quarter turn style, meaning that rotating the closed disc 90° will fully open the valve, and vice versa. They can also be opened incrementally in order to throttle flow. This can be accomplished manually, but throttling flow is more precise when used in conjunction with an actuator.  Actuators can be customized to allow incremental flow, by using positioners in the case of pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, or by using modulating boards in the case of electric actuators.

Our high temperature butterfly valves offer a light weight, lower cost, heavy duty, and maintenance free solution to high pressure applications.  Common applications that use butterfly valves include: utilities, pulp and paper, oil and gas production, fuel handling systems, marine, petrochemical processing, air conditioning, and refrigeration.  Our butterfly valves also come in many sizes and styles, including PVC, carbon steel, stainless steel, lug-style body, wafer-style body, and pressure classes 150, 300, and 600. These valves can also provide dead end service where applicable.

High temperature butterfly valves are designed as either lug-style or wafer-style. Resilient seated butterfly valves also offer many types of seat materials to accommodate many process applications, such as Buna-N, EPDM, Viton, and Teflon, as well as FDA approved materials.  Rubber lined butterfly valves have lower pressure ratings than the concentric, high performance, and triple-offset butterfly valves which offer incrementally higher pressure ratings, which are required for an ANSI rating. Any process media flowing through the control loop can be regulated with the proper valve, and our butterfly valve is an excellent valve that provides the precision control and bubble tight seal that an operator requires.
